Senior Research Finance Assistant at Uniperms

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Research Finance team as a Senior Research Finance Associate.

This team is responsible for the financial management of the research portfolio and research-related activities at the University of Warwick and reports to the Research Funding Manager, working closely with a Senior Associate Research Finance Fellow.

The successful candidate will proactively manage a portfolio of externally funded research and research related projects from acceptance to closure and support and advise department colleagues. This post prepares claims or invoices for projects in line with funding deadlines, interprets and defines funder regulations, monitors completed research projects and ensures that appropriate actions are taken for a quick and orderly closure. The appointed candidate will support CFOs to arrange audits and prepare documentation, along with promoting overall financial control.

What do we look for in an ideal candidate?

By holding professional qualifications such as the Accounting Technician (AAT) qualification, the successful candidate will use their excellent IT and customer service skills to provide information of a supportive and informative nature to assist departmental colleagues in meeting the funder’s regulatory requirements, up to relevant deadlines. Intermediate excel skills are necessary, including use of VLOOKUPs and pivot tables.

While it would be beneficial for candidates to have experience in a higher education or research support role, this is not essential, and candidates who are able to demonstrate the ability to learn new areas of knowledge and skills quickly, such as the ability to understand contractual terms and conditions, and then provide effective advice and support to colleagues will be encouraged to apply. Training will be provided to assist the successful candidate in becoming effective in their duties.

The appointed candidate will be required to work from the University of Warwick campus for a minimum of three specified days per week on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The hybrid business model may be subject to change.

Full details of duties and selection criteria for this role can be found in the vacancy advertisement on the University of Warwick careers pages. You will be directed to this when you click the Apply button.
