Temporary Sales Associates, Flagship Store

The Museum of Modern Art is currently accepting applications for four full-time temporary sales assistants for the Museum Store, which is located directly in the Museum on West 53rd Street between Fifth and Sixth Avenues. Reporting to Store Managers and Supervisors, Sales Associates are expected to provide a knowledgeable, thoughtful, and inspiring customer service experience that plays an integral role in achieving store sales and measurement goals. Additionally, Sales Associates are expected to adhere to MoMA standards and adhere to and enforce museum and retail policies and procedures. Sales associates are also expected to proactively communicate with the museum to support the overall visitor experience.

Responsibilities:

• Provides great customer service (greeting, communicating, sharing, thanking).
• Proactively communicate with customers and engage them on a regular basis.
• Maintains a professional and positive presence on the sales floor.
• Performs registration transactions, including sales, memberships, email capture, and gift wrapping.
• Responds to customer inquiries and assists with selection.
• Maintains a high level of museum and product knowledge.
• Performs daily inventory maintenance by ensuring all merchandise and fixtures are signed, displayed, lit, and cleaned.
• Participates in physical inventory.
• Opens and closes cash registers and is responsible for any discrepancies noted by the manager.
• Complies with all zoning and scheduling.
• Participates in all MoMA Design Store, Museum and vendor training sessions.
• Provides advice to the Assistant Store Manager, out-of-stock merchandise operations and inventory discrepancies.
• Visits the museum regularly to keep up with current exhibitions and gallery rotation of collections.
• Attends product, vendor, and customer service training.
• Participates in advanced education opportunities as offered.
• Attends staff meetings.
• Performs any other duties reasonably related to the functions described above.

requirements:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum one year in retail sales.
• We are committed to providing a high level of customer service.
• Strong verbal, organizational and communication skills.
• – Ability to perform physical tasks as needed.
• Interest in design, books, art and architecture is desirable.
• Fluency in the language in addition to English is a plus.
• Proficiency in point of sale, email, and inventory management systems.

salary: The salary for this position is $18.00 per hour.
