Expanding Access Director at the University of Westminster

This position is full-time and permanent, working 35 hours per week.

The University of Westminster is looking to appoint an experienced Access Expansion Manager to join their Student Recruitment and Outreach team in the UK. This is a leadership role within the Student Recruitment and Outreach team and will require direct management of the Access Expansion Administrator.

This role is critical to the successful implementation of the University’s Access and Participation Plan (APP), with a particular focus on achieving the access goals set out in the APP. The Director of Extended Access will be responsible for the strategic planning, delivery and evaluation of activity programs that will engage students from a range of backgrounds who may have faced multiple barriers to accessing higher education.

The Extended Access Manager will have corporate responsibility as the operational lead for access related activity streams in the application. Therefore, they will be asked to attend working groups related to the delivery of the application, and may also need to contribute to other groups across the university when an expert in expanding access is asked to provide input. Furthermore, active engagement with professional sector groups and bodies is encouraged so that best practice is shared with the University and external opportunities are not missed.

The role holder will also have responsibility as the primary point of contact for recording, monitoring and tracking access interventions. The University is exploring procuring HEAT for this purpose and, if it goes ahead, the role holder will be the primary contact for HEAT (or an alternative platform).

The University of Westminster consists of three academic colleges. Given current outreach objectives, this role will work more closely with academic colleagues in the College of Design and Creative and Digital Innovation (DCDI), so familiarity with relevant topics would be beneficial. However, the role holder will be expected to engage with the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Sciences (LAS) and Westminster Business School (WBS), and therefore a broad understanding of the academic institutions is required.
