The Cypriot Institute (CYI) is a non -profit European educational and research institution directed towards science and technology, based in Cyprus and is managed by a prominent board of directors. The CYI’s research agenda is followed in its five research centers, namely:

  1. Castor Science and Technology Research Center (CSTORC)
  2. The Science and Technology Research Center in Archeology and Culture (Starc)
  3. Enerce and Water Research Center (EWRC)
  4. Climate and Climate Research Center (Care-C)
  5. Science and Innovation Research Center (STDI-RC)

The great interaction between the centers is one of the features of the scientific spirit of the institute.

The Cyprus Institute invites applications for the appointment of a new faculty member at an assistant level or associate professor in the broader field of computer science and technology, to join the institute’s CSTORC Center on the basis of full -time (100 % FTE) for its headquarters on the campus on athassa.

The applicant chosen for a faculty member will enhance the institute’s competencies in one or more of the following research fields:

  1. Basic models and training methods/effective adaptation of HPC systems,
  2. Obstetric artificial intelligence and multimedia learning,
  3. Learn causal acting and counter -thinking,
  4. The durability, safety, and confidence in machine learning (including the possibility of interpretation and fairness)
  5. Continuous, unified and developed learning,
  6. ML for scientific discovery.

Preference will be given to experienced candidates in artificial intelligence methodologies and machine learning as well as experience in using advanced computing techniques such as HPC and/or cloud computing.

The applicant chosen will implement and develop the institute’s research agenda in general and CastOr in particular in close cooperation with faculty, research staff and CYI leadership. As a faculty member, efficiency and/or experience in directing and teaching doctoral students and masters are essential, as a successful candidate is expected to actively contribute to the institute’s postgraduate program. The candidate will work in Cyprus and will be offered a fixed position, an attractive salary and a sign of advantages depending on the level of experience.

The responsibilities / activities specified for the position:

The new faculty member will contribute to the formation of the agenda of the research institute through:

  1. Developing and implementing the appropriate strategies for the institute’s message
  2. Guidance, education and presentation of research guidance for graduate students
  3. Development and expansion of the Institute’s research, innovative and educational activities
  4. Development of a global level research program in one or more of the following areas: (1) Basic models and training methods/adaptation effective on HPC systems, (2) Obstetric artificial intelligence and multimedia learning, (3) causal representative learning and anti -reality thinking, (4) durability and safety and confidence in the machine learning (including the ability to interpret and fairness), (5) continuous and unified learning And peripheral learning, (6) learning the machine for scientific discovery
  5. Helping in building a multidisciplinary research environment and cooperation with other research fields where the above -mentioned fields apply
  6. Securing financial resources and other national and international sources
  7. The start and sustainability of high -level cooperative projects with the leading research institutions that are conducting research in areas related to its fields
  8. Contributing to the development and implementation of the appropriate facilities for the research of the Cyprus Institute
  9. Connecting the results and effects of research conducted in CastOr and the institute at all levels, including the academy and the popularity related to politics

The required qualifications for the job:

  • Doctorate in Computer Science, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or closely related specialty.
  • An installed research and academic record of an international status.
  • Experience in directing and teaching graduate students according to the rank they are applying for (an absolute demand for the rank of associate professor).
  • The teaching and training record after graduation is suitable for the advanced rank.
  • The English language mastery speaking and writing.
  • Excellent skills in dealing with others and management.

The specific job required qualifications

  • Ideally, at least three years of research experience after the doctorate or its equivalent in the relevant research fields is required to obtain the rank of assistant professor. For the rank of associate professor, perfectly, you are required to have at least five years of relevant experience.

Duration of appointment:

The candidate will work in Cyprus and will be offered a fixed or fixed position, depending on the rank and experience.

Reward details:

Salary range: For assistant professor CYI7.1 – CYI7.8 / Associate Professor (CYI9.1 – CYI10.8)

The initial salary of the job: CYI7.1 – 55668.86 euros / CYI9.1 – 70648.69 euros

The previous years of experience will be taken into the same rank that CYI offers to get the first place in the wages. Each year is complete of the previous experience at the time of the start of the contract, one payment step will be identified in the payment range in question.
