The Department of Political Science at North Carolina State University invites a permanent position in East Asian Politics at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2026.
Those with relevant experience will have the opportunity to teach on the MA International Studies programme. Candidates must be able to demonstrate that they will defend their thesis by the start date.
Teaching responsibilities will be at the graduate and undergraduate levels in the department’s Master of International Studies (MIS) program as well as the Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science in Political Science. The successful candidate will maintain a strong research agenda, teach two courses each semester, contribute to student mentoring, and be actively involved in service to the university and the profession.
The applicant must be able to develop coursework in East Asian politics at the graduate level for our MIS program and be able to teach undergraduate course(s) on politics and political issues relevant to East Asia as a region and/or specific countries (China and Japan) in that region
