The Department of Languages ​​and Cultures in East Asia at the Hamilton Logar College of International and International Studies from Indiana University calls for assistant professor applications (Path of possession) in the Japanese and linguistic language, on August 1, 2026. This position is 100 % in the HLS multidisciplinary department in East Asia (EALC). The Japanese language program is one of three prosperous linguistic programs in Ealc. Along with Chinese and Koreans, Japanese in IU is a common and active field for study. The average enrollment in the Japanese university language courses is 350 students in each semester and complements a full set of content courses in Japanese linguistics, training studies and Japan on a broader scale. MA and PHD programs provide exciting opportunities for advanced research in East Asia and linguistic languages. Besides Ealc, the East Asian Studies Center and the Politics and Society Initiative in the twenty -first century contribute to the common systematic programming that helps students communicate with Japan, language and Japanese culture in a variety of ways. Outside the department and school, Indiana University is home to a large number of language researchers, making IU a vibrant society for language scholarships. The candidate who takes this position will join the faculty and students who are committed to excellence in Japanese research and teaching.
A successful candidate will be able to teach the Japanese language,/or linguistics and/or the science of linguistic teaching principles, and contribute to the postgraduate program in the science of teaching principles in the Japanese language. Possible specializations include, but not limited to, the science of linguistic teaching, second language studies, mathematical linguistics, and all fields of sub -linguistics. Downloading teaching is two sessions for each semester. Teaching responsibilities will include Japanese language courses, postgraduate courses and postgraduate studies to support management curriculum. The candidate will also have the opportunity to provide courses in their specialization.
Basic qualifications:
The chosen candidate should have a doctorate degree in the hand or a clear indication that the degree will be at hand by August 1, 2026, in the science of Japanese language teaching, second language studies, mathematical linguistics, or any sub -field, or a related field. The candidate must be eligible to teach the Japanese language at all levels and graduate courses in the science of linguistic teaching and/or linguistics. Candidates should have at least two years of experience and have been successful in teaching Japanese, in addition to the original or close semester of the tendons in Japanese and English. Qualified candidates must have an active research record with clear potential for scientific excellence, in addition to a strong commitment to language teaching.
Favorite qualifications:
