table: 80 hours every two weeks; Shifts are usually scheduled Monday to Friday between 08:00 – 18:00

This position works in the Police – Records Management Organizational Unit. This is specialized research work that involves the application of fairly advanced research and analytical techniques to support forensic investigative activities and the development of projects and programs of the detachment. An employee in this category collects, evaluates, analyzes and interprets a wide range of investigative and intelligence data and information; Monitors and identifies crime patterns, trends, and other factors; Participates and provides analytical support in project and program development; Prepares reports and recommendations based on analysis; Establishes and maintains contact with a variety of internal and external contacts. The incumbent exercises significant independence of judgment and action in carrying out assignments, discussing unusual or more complex issues or policy issues with the supervisor who reviews work performance in terms of the quality of services provided and the achievement of desired results. Performs related work as required.
Qualifications include university graduation in criminology, economics, geography, mathematics or related disciplines, preferably supplemented by completion of a Forensic Investigation Diploma at a technical institute plus sound relevant work experience or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Considerable knowledge of research, statistical and analytical principles, practices, procedures, methods and techniques such as mapping is required. Sound knowledge of the criminal justice system; Police information systems and other relevant computer application software such as MS Word, MS Excel and Powerpoint are required. Knowledge of other computer programs such as PRIME, ArcGIS, IBM i2 Analysts Notebook, Tableau, JUSTIN, CORNET, CPIC, and GeoTime is an asset. The incumbent must also have experience identifying sources and providing written reports and recommendations based on analysis of complex information. Ability to perform detailed research and analytical tasks, to interpret statistical and narrative data and to prepare forecasts, projections and reports; To present conclusions and recommendations either orally or in writing. Ability to be flexible as work priorities often change and must be able to work under tight time constraints. British Columbia driver’s license required. The incumbent will be required to obtain and maintain an RCMP enhanced security clearance. Must be able to pass the EDCAS Analyst exam and obtain and maintain a Top Secret RCMP security clearance.
This is a full-time temporary position until December 2, 2026.
