Inspection of public facilities to ensure compliance with rules and regulations.

Minimum qualifications
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty listed satisfactorily. The requirements listed below represent the knowledge, skill and/or ability required.

Education and experience
Must satisfy Act 452 of 1975 to be certified by the State of Arkansas as a Law Enforcement Officer. – At least 5 years of experience and must be familiar with community policing. You must be 21 years old. Must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent.

Responsibility for money, property and equipment
Responsible for the control and security of all ASUN property and equipment.

Communication skills
Ability to interact effectively with students, faculty, and staff. Ability to write detailed reports, correspondence, and policy/procedure manuals so that others understand them. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of students, faculty, administration, or the general public. The ability to speak clearly so that others can understand your instructions. Ability to detect and correct grammatical and spelling errors in written correspondence.

Mathematical skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measurement using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to calculate rate, ratio, and percentage and prepare and interpret bar graphs.

Critical thinking skills
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of known variables in situations where there is only limited standardization.

Supervision received
Under the general direction of the Vice-Chancellor, working through general policies and directions. Occasionally refers specific cases to supervisor where clarification or interpretation of organization policy is required.

Planning/organizing
Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously. Significant responsibility regarding general tasks as well as planning the time, manner, method and/or sequence of performing own work.

Performs work processes that provide frequent opportunities to make decisions of great importance and also frequent opportunities to make decisions of great importance, either of which will affect the work processes of the small organizational component as well as the organization as a whole.

Regular communications with students, parents, faculty, staff and community leaders. It involves providing and obtaining information, as well as trying to influence the decisions of people contacted. Regular contact with other university staff at all levels within the organization.

Certificates, licenses and registrations required
Must be an Arkansas State Police Officer certified to the Arkansas Law Enforcement Standards Training Academy with ACA 12-9-106 or an approved Law Enforcement Training Academy and must possess a valid Arkansas driver’s license.

Software skills required
Basic: Word processing/writing, presentations/PowerPoint, alphanumeric data entry, database, spreadsheets

Must be able to qualify with single weapon.

Must demonstrate the ability to use the following items:

Environmental conditions
Requires working in excessively bright or insufficient lighting conditions, including exposure to sounds and noise levels that are distracting or uncomfortable. Requires work in extremely hot (above 90°F) or very cold (below 32°F) temperatures.
