The Department of German Studies in the College of International Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at the University of Arizona invites applications for a tenure-eligible position at the rank of Assistant Professor to serve as Director of the German Language Program (LPD), beginning in August 2026, with a Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, Second Language Acquisition, or Second Language Teaching at the time of appointment. We are particularly interested in someone who will add a new dimension and experience to our programme, and who will help us increase the number of our undergraduate German majors by developing and implementing an innovative curriculum that is in line with contemporary pedagogical principles and offers engaging learning experiences for our students. The field of expertise is open, but candidates must have a research agenda that is closely related to the duties and responsibilities of managing a German language program. Areas of interest include but are not limited to: innovative course design, technology-enhanced language learning, and online second language teaching. Candidates must have an active research agenda, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and an active commitment to recruiting German majors, minors, and graduate students. Superior proficiency in German and English is required.
