Clinical Research Director, Associate, Assistant or Full Professor, Sarcoma Oncology, on the Clinical Investigator track
The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center (Fred Hutch) and the University of Washington (UW) are hiring a full-time faculty member for the Sarcoma Program. This position will be dual appointed with a primary faculty appointment in the Department of Clinical Research at Fred Hutch and a secondary appointment in the UCLA Department of Medicine, Division of Hematology and Oncology. This position will report to the Senior Vice President (SVP) of Clinical Research at Fred Hutch and Head of the Department of Hematology and Oncology at UW. This position will be at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications.
This position is designed for a physician who will provide strategic direction and business development with a strong vision for developing and growing the Fred Hutch Sarcoma Clinical Research program. This leader will contribute to our mission of providing outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in research in the biology and treatment of sarcoma and closely related conditions. The successful candidate will be expected to: 1) drive clinical research for Fred Hutch sarcoma and 2) stimulate interdisciplinary research at Fred Hutch. The successful candidate will enter a vibrant and dynamic research environment with the opportunity to lead and collaborate with basic, translational, public health, and clinical sarcoma researchers across diverse specialties. The University of Washington School of Medicine is the designated medical school in Alaska, Montana, and Idaho, which together with Washington form the Wami District. Fred Hutch is the only NCI-designated cancer center in WAMI, providing unique research and clinical opportunities in this largely rural area. The candidate will serve as an academic, clinical, and educational leader charged with organizing, directing, and expanding the clinical research efforts of an established team of sarcoma clinicians. The successful candidate will also foster and develop an environment that facilitates clinical and translational research.
This position will have primary oversight of the sarcoma clinical research program and will oversee the strategic planning, implementation, and management of sarcoma-focused clinical research activities. This position will play a pivotal role in advancing FHCC’s mission to combat cancer through impactful clinical and translational research. Priorities include: developing new research collaborations with pharmaceutical companies and national trials, building strong partnerships between researchers and staff, integrating trials across and between different stakeholders, leading and facilitating translational research collaborations in sarcoma across the Cancer Consortium, educating researchers in sarcoma, and creating a vision for the future of sarcoma and its treatment for the region in collaborations in other strands.
The successful candidate will be placed on the physician track, and will devote approximately 40% of time to clinical sarcoma care. The remainder of the candidate’s time will be protected for research and administrative tasks associated with Fred Hutch sarcoma, clinical and research programs, as well as teaching and mentoring.
Fred Hutch and the University of Washington share faculty in teaching, research and service. Teaching responsibilities will include coordinating informal teaching and formal therapy with affiliated training and fellowship programs, for physicians, and the general medical community.
University of Washington WOT Assistant Professors are eligible for multi-year appointments and Associate and Full Professors hold non-term appointments that align with a 12-month term of service (July 1-June 30). Faculty with 12-month terms of service are paid for 11 months of service over a 12-month period (July to June), meaning the equivalent of one month is available for paid leave.
Faculty are expected to perform their core activities on-site at Fred Hutch.

Qualifications
Applicants must have:
· PhD/DAM degree (or foreign equivalent)
Board Certification in Medical Oncology (or foreign equivalent)
· Eligibility for medical licensing in Washington State.
In order to be eligible for H-1B visa sponsorship, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) schools must demonstrate successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Examination (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
Successful applicants will have demonstrated excellence in teaching, clinical supervision of learners, and research mentoring. The candidate must have a demonstrated track record in clinical, translational, or laboratory-based research, with a primary focus on sarcoma and closely related conditions.

The annual base salary range for this position is $305,350 to $329,167 for faculty hired at the rank of Assistant Professor, from $355,356 to $380.92 for faculty hired at the rank of Associate Professor. Pay for faculty positions depends on a variety of factors, including degree, specialty, clinical practice, and experience. This position is eligible for relocation assistance or a sign-on bonus. Other compensation associated with this position may include an administrative supplement (ADS) in addition to base wages.
