Assistant Professor in Mathematics – Education

The California University Mathematics Department invites CSUSM requests to obtain a teaching staff in the field of possession in the rank of assistant professor. The expected start date is August 25, 2026. We are looking for candidates with a strong research agenda in university mathematics education. In addition to maintaining their research program, we expect the successful candidate within the department and the college to cooperate in developing, improving and implementing the evidence based on mathematics courses; Provide course format. And contribute to the instructions in university mathematics courses and graduate studies. While the successful candidate will be the first researcher in mathematics education at the first university stage to join our department, there is an active community of researchers in the field of discipline -based education in other departments in the College of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics.

CSUSM is located on the beautiful 304 acres of 154 miles east of the ocean in San Diego County, a region known for its growing technology, cyber and defense. CSUSM was founded in 1989, a dynamic university dedicated to the success of our students. Providing access to high -quality education and manufacturing workforce education for the local industry is the main parts of CSUSM. Minimum qualifications:

  • Commitment to create a welcome environment through research, teaching and service activities, focusing on helping a variety of people who make up our campus community positive experiences with mathematics.
  • Doctorate in mathematics or doctorate in mathematics education and MS in mathematics; Or equivalent accreditation data. (Before ABD applicants; PhD required in the date of employment)
  • The ability to maintain an active research program in university mathematics teaching.
  • Publications in respectable scientific journals reviewed by the peer.
  • Evidence of successful teaching in lower division mathematics courses.
  • The ability to teach basic mathematics courses in the upper.
  • Attention in cooperation in developing curricula and improving mathematics courses.

Favorite qualifications:

  • A research program related to teaching university students representing the CSUSM Student in mathematics.
  • Experience with course format.
  • Experience with the development of evidence -based curriculum for mathematics courses.
  • The experience of teaching a wide range of university mathematics courses.
  • The ability to supervise mathematics or mathematics education projects with first university students and master’s students.
  • Experience in writing and/or implementation.

Duties:

  • Administration support in implementing evidence -based curriculum improvements.
  • Teaching responsibilities can include some mixture of training courses in mathematics, training courses that support other departments (for example, differentiation and integration account), and graduate studies/advanced university levels in the field of candidate’s experience.
  • The successful candidate is expected to maintain a research program in his field of experience.
  • The successful candidate will participate in the activities that serve the department, college, university and society.
