If you want to be part of a professional and cooperative team dedicated to creating a great and permanent impact on the lives of young engineers, the department of Dr. Karl de Clay and HH Jin Clay Mechanical Engineering at Northern Ohio University invites you to apply for a three -year teaching staff starting on August 19, 2026. Continuous registration in the program, the extension of this position will be considered at the end of the contract period. This position will support our wide mechanical engineering program at the university stage, which, in addition to the general mechanical engineering path, includes flying options, cars, biomedics, manufacturing, sustainability and robots. Candidates will be seen from any field of specialization within or near mechanical engineering or our focus areas. The candidate’s request letter must be dealt with how the candidate meets the declared needs of our position within our institution that serves the university stage.
Main responsibilities:
The applicant must be committed to teaching excellence in university education and developing a sense of society for students, faculty and employees. Applicants must also have excellent oral and written communication skills and are expected to participate in professional development opportunities. Introductory courses are expected to be taught at the college level (such as design foundations, statistics, material strength, etc.) in addition to the higher level mechanical engineering courses. Onu is a founding partner of the Kern Entrepreneurial Engineering Network and is committed to implanting entrepreneurship mentality for our university engineering students.
Required skills:
Industrial experience, experience in teaching, professional licensing and the ability to teach both preliminary and advanced courses will be viewed positively. Candidates must be committed to developing knowledge and practice in teaching engineering teaching. The appointment will be at the level of an auxiliary professor, not a fixed appointment.
Minimum qualifications:
PhD. Required in mechanical engineering or neighboring fields such as materials, space, biomed, robotics, or manufacturing engineering, or a relevant field such as engineering education (with a previous degree in mechanical engineering) or a master’s degree with great relevant industrial experience. ABD is acceptable, but the degree requirements must be completed before the recruitment date.
