The Department of Humanology at the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology (HKUST) calls for proof requests for the position of open rank (Assistant Professor / Associate Professor) Art History, With the expected start date on July 2, 2026, or as soon as possible after that. While the preference is employment at the level of an assistant professor, the exceptional candidates will be considered in the assistant professor and the level of a professor.

The situation is a researcher in the art of East Asia. China’s experience is particularly welcome. The ideal candidate will have research interests in traditional media (including but not limited to, drawing, sculpture, architecture, or photography) as well as the ability to apply new methodologies to their studies. Successful candidates are expected to be able to teach graduate and graduate studies courses in contemporary multimedia art, art surveys and media in East Asia, and specialized courses

Applicants must either obtain a doctorate or get it. A degree in the history of art (or relevant field) by August 2026. The successful candidate must prove a commitment to excellence in research and teaching in addition to a strong publishing record suitable for the job stage. For applicants at the level of the professor or assistant professor, the record of obtaining competitive external financing will be in addition.

The start of the salary will be a competitor and is appropriate for qualifications and experience. Margin benefits will be provided, including annual leave and medical/dental benefits. Housing advantages will also be provided when necessary. The initial appointment is usually in the rank of assistant professor in a three -year contract, renewed for the mutual agreement. A reward will be paid at successfully completing the contract.
