The Department of Second Linguistic Studies at the Faculty of Arts, Languages ​​and Epindments at Hawaii University in Manoa invites the 9 months applicants, an assistant professor, and a full -time assistant, with a specialization in the second language of advanced language science. Hawaii University is a very high research activity university with a strong orientation to the Asia Pacific region. Duties and responsibilities:
Developing and teaching training courses at university levels and graduate studies, including in the areas of linguistics and second methods of language research, based on the needs of the department;

Follow up external financing opportunities;
Participate in building the second language studies program and other services for the department, college, university and the broader societies;

Minimum qualifications:
– PhD or degree equivalent to second language studies, applied linguistics, or a close field from a recognized college or university; ABDS will be considered, but all PhD requirements must be completed by August 2026.
– The ability to conduct research in the field of the applicant’s specialization has been proven, as it is clear from publications or other scientific contributions;
– Experience in quantitative and linguistic analysis of Corpus data showed;
Job skill in at least one programming language is used to inquire and analyze Corpora (for example, Python, R);
– Show success in teaching;
– The ability to develop and teach courses at university levels and graduate studies;
– The ability to work effectively and colleagues with various groups of students, faculty, employees and administrators has been proven.

Desired qualifications:
– Experiment to research using Language Learner Corpora.
Knowledge of body assembly.
– The ability to work with Corpora tagged and indisputable.
– Experience in one or more of other areas that will expand or enhance strengths in the second language studies community, including but not limited to: NLP treatment, quantitative research methods, searching for languages ​​other than English (of particular importance of East Asia and/or endangered languages).
– Show excellence in teaching, training and supervision of graduate students and university students.
