Description

The Department of Languages ​​and Cultures in the Middle East (MELC) at the University of California, Berkeley, is looking for requests for an assistant professor in the Hebrew Bible, the path of possession, with the date of the expected start on July 1, 2026.

Requests are welcome by scholars who investigate the Hebrew Bible in its ancient contexts and participate in multidisciplinary questions in humanities and/or social sciences.

The successful applicant will join Melc College for the Study of Languages, Literature and Physical Culture in the Middle East, from ancient times to today. Educational responsibilities include teaching 3-4 courses/year at postgraduate studies and university students, including instructions in Hebrew Biblical. They are also expected to cooperate in supervising the Hebrew language program, contributing to teaching the Ministry’s preliminary investigation courses, first university students and supervising graduate students, and contributing to the community of the varied and comprehensive department through their research,/or teaching and/or service.
