Today’s article:

Cambridge University Music College wants to appoint a specialist in music theory and analyze to the assistant professor’s publication, starting from October 1, 2026 or as soon as possible after that.

The specific efficiency of the result will balance the commitment to the growth areas of discipline, including openness to the analytical methods of global music. The basic experience in one or more research fields may be, including (but not limited to) the history of theory, performance studies, mathematical curricula, methods of analyzing jazz and contemporary music, improvisation studies, screen music, or integrating perspectives from the composition of the twenty -first century.

Applicants must have a related doctorate in music or relevant discipline and a record or clear potential for distinguished research. We are looking for a disciplinary depth researcher who wants to formulate intellectual and creative synergy with colleagues working in other areas.

The successful applicant will collect basic and optional courses; They will teach at the master’s level, supervise and examine the doctorate, and develop curricula within the limits of analysis. Administrative duties include exam councils, acceptance, higher reviews, committee work and communication.

At the heart of an extensive network of study, research and musical practice, the College of Music includes 14 Permanent academic staff FTE, 5 researchers after a doctorate, 22 affiliated lecturers, 16 professional service employees who work with about 200 university students and 70 graduate students. As a pioneering center in the field of international research, faculty members specialize in modern music in the Middle Ages and Music in the nineteenth century, opera, popular music, analysis, ethnom science, training, music and science. Our facilities include professional concert hall and music library, as well as a wide range of historical instruments and Gamelan Javanese. An integral part of the faculty is the center of music and science, housing is fully equipped studios, computer room and research room.
