The Theology College wants to appoint an assistant professor in Buddhist Studies (Mahana) as of September 1, 2026.

Applicants must obtain a doctorate degree in Buddhist studies or a busy record of a clear potential or possibility for advanced research and publishing in this field. The successful candidate will be asked to conduct academic research, a lecture, education and examination of Buddhist studies at the level of university and postgraduate studies, as well as to carry out administrative duties within the college.

The appointed person is expected to provide about 40-48 hours of contact in the lecture room in teaching over three periods of the school year. You will be responsible, along with his colleagues in the college’s religious studies department, to design and provide college education in Buddhist studies. This will include a full paper in the IIA part of “Tripos” (i.e. the second year of the Ba Hons program), and contributing to the first year paper “Study of Global Religions”.

A successful applicant will have the opportunity to participate in university teaching to obtain an additional reward.
