The Biomedical Ethics Center (CBME) was created in September 2006 at Yong Loo Lin School for Medicine through a generous gift by Chen Su Lan Trust. We are working to develop understanding and the ability to do good judgment and proper moral practice in the context of providing health care and biomedical sciences and developing health policy. CBME, headed by Professor Julian Savlesko, is a prosperous center for learning, teaching and research in terms of moral and legal aspects of health sciences and biomedical sciences. We are responsible for developing and presenting the health ethics program, law and professional efficiency during the five years of university medical curricula in addition to continuous vocational education courses in biological ethics. The goal of Professor Savollesko is to make CBMe a pioneering center for medical ethics with a vibrant culture and a strong international presence, especially Asian.

We look forward to appointing talented, collective, committed and enthusiastic biological scientists to join our faculty. We are especially keen to develop our strengths in research and teaching in medical ethics in general with potential specializations in experimental biology ethics, experimental vital ethics, reproductive ethics, specialists, nerve ethics, longevity, artificial intelligence ethics or clinical ethics and health care (including work on health systems and public health). The appointed person will have sufficient experience and stand to enhance and support the development of our research portfolio, and to provide major educational contributions while enhancing our university education and postgraduate studies. We will look at the qualified and qualified applicants and are keen to preserve some clinical responsibilities, but they must be able and ready to assume (proportional) a full set of teaching and research responsibilities in this position.

This is a date for a full -time academic college and will be made on the basis of the frantic or possession path, depending on the experience and the tracking record. The role requires residency in Singapore.

The main responsibilities of the situation are:

  • Do international research and standing in medical ethics and biology ethics, and works cooperatively to enhance and support the development of CBME research portfolio.
  • Contributing to university teaching in the health ethics program, law and professional competence (auxiliary).
  • Contributing to teaching graduate studies for biological ethics, including through the development of the training course and coordination of the stereotype of the next master’s program.
  • Providing academic support to other CBME activities, for example by facilitating the organization of international conferences, workshops and lectures and contributing to responses to general consultations issued by the Ministry of Health.
  • It works in the committees of universities and relevant policies (in proportion to the arrangement) and participating in academic life in CBME, and Yong Loo Lin College of Medicine and the National University of Singapore.
  • Providing guidance and development of employees for doctorates, juniors and job staff.

The basic requirements for this position:

  • Doctorate in a field related to biology ethics, such as philosophy, biology ethics, sociology, psychology, anthropology, etc.
  • A comprehensive basis in ethics, including the development of standard arguments, to the expected level of qualifying official graduate studies, preferably a doctorate, in ethics or biological ethics from a respectable university. (If you do not have a qualification for a master’s level specifically in the ethics of biology, ethics or moral philosophy, we need clear evidence that you have gained a level of understanding otherwise).
  • Knowing and the ability to achieve a set of methodologies and specializations related to critical thinking in practical morals, including philosophy.
  • Teaching experience at the university level showed ethics or a close field, and evidence of commitment to excellence in education.
  • A busy record (relative to job opportunities) for good research and publishing in biological ethics and/or fields related to this position.
  • For assistant professor appointment, a busy record will also be necessary.
  • Written English and excellent word.
  • Strong organizing and management skills.
  • I showed efficiency for cooperation and independent.

desirable:

  • Doctorate degree or medical qualification for graduate studies recognized by the Medical Council in Singapore.
  • Experience the broader aspects of academic work, such as doctorate supervision, doctoral examination, peer review, and contributions to professional networks/organizations.
  • The ability to conduct experimental research, including qualitative research involved interviews and questionnaires.
