The planning department is responsible for developing and implementing the comprehensive Milwoke city plan and 14 region’s plan. The efforts include strategic updates for the division symbol, urban design initiatives, and support for the City Plan Committee. The department also cooperates with DCD colleagues to enhance the city Housing at reasonable prices And economic development goals.

Under the supervision of the city planning director, the Director of Long -term Planning develops the project tasks, supervises the employees on the activities of the long -term regions and policy planning, and it implements special projects and consults and provides technical assistance to the various stakeholders.

The minimum requirements

1. Bachelor’s degree in urban planning, public administration, urban studies, architecture, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
2. Five years of gradually responsible work experience in the professional roles of urban planning or community/development participation, including project management and/or employee management.
3. The ability to travel independently throughout Milwoki through public transportation, walking, cycling, sharing, or driving.

Educational groups and equivalent experience can be considered.

The long -term planning manager will be responsible for:

Personnel Management:

• Management and supervision of the employees of the long -term planning department.
• Her rental, training and support for professional development and employee growth.
• Appointment and supervision of employee work tasks.

Project planning and implementation:

• Leading private and strategic planning projects and initiatives, including land use, housing, and the creation of economic development policy.
• Implementing special planning projects, including the neighborhood Redevelopment Plans; Organizational research and other ways to implement the comprehensive plan.
• Management of strategic projects to update the partition code and design instructions to enhance the recommendations of the comprehensive plan.
• In consultation with the manager of city planning, set goals, develop and implement the annual action plan for the long -term planning department, including the creation of project ranges from work, budgets and time schedules for major projects to ensure advanced goals and priorities.
• Developing the framework and the process of continuous updates of the comprehensive plan of the city.
• Supervising the review of public and private development proposals that are subject to an estimated review of compliance with the goals of the comprehensive plan in the city and neighborhood goals, as well as related design instructions and city decrees.

Community participation:

• Developing and managing the general participation strategies that increase the participation of stakeholders during planning projects, reducing barriers that prevent participation and involving actress groups, a useful representation.
• Developing cooperative relationships with internal and external partners to enhance the implementation of the comprehensive plan recommendations.
• Interest -resistance groups to support long -range planning initiatives.
• Supporting the Ministry to external groups that work on relevant initiatives.
• Contribute to maintaining the pages of the long -term planning project on the city’s website and the online participation platform.

administration:

• Responding to requests to obtain information from the mayor’s office, the legislative authority office, members of the Council, other city departments, residents, business owners, and developers.
• Look for grant financing and partnership opportunities that generate additional resources to support long -term planning projects and initiatives.
• Current reports to public bodies such as the City Plan Committee, the Re -Development Authority, the District Division Appeals Council, and the Joint Council committees.
• DCD is represented in local and national conferences on planning, land use, urban design, transportation, environment, society, economic development, and participation.
