The teaching staff wants to employ a post -PhD researcher to support Professor Darren Croft’s work. This post, funded by NRC, in cooperation with Dr. Samuel Ellis from the University of Exeter, Professor Daniel Franks at York University, and Dr. Michael Weiss at the Pisces Research Center (USA) available from November 1, 2025 for a period of three years. The successful applicant will join a cooperative team that explores how access to social dynamic information in the dead whales. This project benefits from a group of unique 50 -year -old data on the extinction -bound numbers of extinction to investigate how individuals amend their social relationships in response to changing prey and partner loss and distributing environmental knowledge within social groups.
PDRA will play a major role in presenting the project, and working closely with the Pisces Research Center (USA) and other partners. The responsibilities will include coordination and conducting advanced behaviors of behavioral and environmental data in the long run, combining various data groups, and testing predictions about drivers and social and environmental dynamics. PostHolder will also contribute to project meetings, support cooperation, and prepare high -impact manuscripts for publication.
This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in the interface of the behavioral environment, memorization and data science, and to address basic questions about social behavior while generating visions directly related to preserving endangered species.
About you
The successful applicant will have a PhD (or qualification/equivalent experience) in behavioral environment, animal behavior, preservation biology, or relevant discipline. They will have specialized knowledge and quantitative skills to design and implement advanced research programs, analyze complex data collections, and develop innovative methodologies.
The successful applicant will be able to work independently and cooperatively as part of a multi -institutional team, supervise the work of others, and take the responsibilities of leadership when necessary. They will have excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly provide research results in oral, writing and electronic formats.
The successful applicant will be enthusiastic and subject to adaptation and adherence to the production of high -quality research that advances in our understanding of the social behavior of the animal and contributes directly to preserving the species threatened with extinction.
