🚀 UPSC offers facial authentication technology that supports AI to secure the verification of candidates

revealed

The Chairman of the Federation’s Public Service Committee (UPSC), Ajay Kumar, announced on Friday that a experimental program was successfully conducted to test the artificial face authentication technology that supports intelligence to verify the rapid and safe filter.

This initiative, which was developed in partnership with the National Section of Electronic Ruling (NEGD), aims to enhance the safety of the examination process and enhance the entry experience for candidates in exam centers.

Kumar told PTI on Friday: “UPSC plans to use face recognition for candidates from all its exams, including civil service exams, to move forward.”
The committee is conducting various recruitment tests for government jobs, including the Civil Services Exam for the selection of Indian administrative service officers (IAS), Indian external service (IFS) and Indian police service (IPS), among others.

Komar pointed out that logistical services, such as Wi-Fi and training for employees participating in face recognition, are major considerations. The necessary standard operating procedures (SOPS) are developed in this regard.

UPSC performed the pilot during the NDA exam (National Defense Academy) and NA (Naval Academy) II, 2025 and CDS (Joint Defense Services) II, 2025, which was held on September 14, 2025, he said. The pilot was implemented in the selected centers in Gurugram, where the photos of the filming candidates were matched. He said that reducing the verification time to only 8 to 10 seconds per candidate, which leads to a great simplification of the entry process with the addition of an additional layer of safety.

“Through the experimental sites, about 2,700 successful examination operations have been completed for 1129 candidates through various sessions. The successful experience is an important step towards taking advantage of the advanced technology of the most intelligent and most efficient exams,” Kumar said.

He stressed that the committee is committed to adopting advanced technology to support the highest standards of fairness and transparency.
