Self -government systems, how to communicate and integrate with the broader world has the ability to transform the way we live, travel and work. Its use is sometimes increased by the ability to understand and evaluate these systems. The Security Self -Government Institute (ISA) is one of the leading research institutes at the University of York, and enhances knowledge and practice in safe and connected robots and independent systems, which are increasingly dependent on artificial intelligence, so that it can be designed, spread and operated safely. The ISA distinction stems from understanding that its research is stronger and more related to societal challenges by being multidisciplinary. ISA is located in a building designed for this purpose that provides a group of experimental facilities specialized in the fields of communications, robots and autonomy. The institute has an external firm confrontation that works closely with the industry, the government and the third sector to identify and exploit multidisciplinary job opportunities and to create an impact of excellent research that occurs throughout the university in the field of robots and safe independent systems.

We look forward to appointing an enthusiastic and talented individual to join the ISA team as a communications and participation manager. This is a major role in a small team, which also includes developing new business and community manager, administrative and technical support. Postolder will be responsible for leading a variety of external and internal communications activities to facilitate and support the delivery of the ISA strategy, especially in raising the image of the institute and researchers, supporting the development of influential partnerships with the main stakeholders, and leading a prosperous and supportive community. The institute is home to high -quality and effective research, and the director of communications and sharing will work on high standards to reflect this.

This role is busy and varied, and will include a daily contact with ISA academic, research and professional support staff, Computer Science Department, Physics College, Engineering and Technology, and other departments, as well as colleagues from central professional support services and external interest. Applicants must have excellent skills between people and communication (written and oral), good attention to detail, and have the ability to multiply tasks and set priorities.

The necessary skills, experience and qualifications

  • Experience of developing and implementing the communications strategy
  • Experiment to planning, creating and editing attractive content for the web, printed publications and social media campaigns, with strong auditing skills
  • A general web management experience using CMS
  • Produce a wide range of marketing and communications materials, working independently and with others, specially designed for the target audience, using a variety of media
  • It is able to transfer and provide complex information and technical concepts to the specialized and non -specialized masses in a responsible, accurate and accessible manner
  • Skills related to the strong personality and the ability to work with stakeholders and colleagues at all levels of seniority
  • The experience of organizing and presenting events to a group of fans
