The Ministry of Earth Sciences is looking for a post -doctoral candidate with high motivation with a background in numerical modeling (Dem, FEM, bem). It will work in the “Fastlip” project. In this position, you will develop and develop the scale bridging techniques for modeling and investigating the rift in induced earthquake scenarios.
This position is located at Utrecht University (UU) and the same project is a cooperation between Utrecht University and the University of Tonin (UT). You will join the current team of one PD student and one PhD student, led André Nimjger (UU), Hong Yang Cheng (UT) and Tanmaya Misrea (UT).
The project is part of Deepnl Research ProgramFunded by the Dutch Research Council (NWO). The research program aims to obtain a better understanding of the effects of human activities on the lower surface. Scientific meetings and annual stakeholders provide opportunities for multidisciplinary research and interaction with industry.
Qualifications:
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate with a busy record of the development and use of numerical models. Knowledge of pluralism filling techniques or scale is prior.
You must have successfully completed the doctoral program in earth sciences, physics, mathematical sciences, or related discipline by the time when the situation begins. It is preferable to have:
- Experience in mathematical techniques, such as FEM and Beem;
- Strong experience or attention in Dem is very appreciated;
- Attention to earthquake mechanics / rift;
- Attention to experimental geographical mechanics;
- Social/verbal skills/adequate communications.
Because of the international nature of our research, the good leadership of the spoken and written English is necessary. We encourage applicants from all members of our society and various backgrounds to join us.
Employment conditions:
A full -time job will be presented for 26 months. The total monthly salary starts between 4,075 euros and 4,728 euros based on the experience after the doctorate (the scale 10.3 – 10.7 of The collective action agreement for Dutch universities). The salaries are completed with a 8 % holiday reward and the end of the year is 8.3 % per year. The pension plan, the partially paid parents, and the conditions of flexible recruitment depend on the collective employment agreement.
In addition to the circumstances of collective recruitment, Utrecht University has a number of its own arrangements. These include agreements on professional development, leave arrangements, sports and cultural plans, and will get discounts on software and other information technology products.
