Applications are invited to obtain a post-PhD researcher at the beginning for two years as part of an EPSRC-NSF on the nanic and chemistry, “nanospinec”. Using nanoparticles, the NANOSPINEC project aims to achieve the first room temperature measurements for rotation at the level of one molecules, and to benefit from them to track the formation and dismantling of quantitative links in single fission (SF) and to create the first inequality in the chemical bell through a specific magnetic division (ODMR).
The candidate will join a dynamic and varied team that appreciates cooperation. The role holder will develop new experiences, analyze and push the Nanospinec project. The candidate will be supported by an exciting new cooperation that extends in three areas of Cavendish Laborators: Nanovotonik Center (Dr. Rakish Aroul), the electronics optical group (RAO), and the Amop (Gangloff) group. NSF partner in the United States is the University of California San Diego (PI: Professor Joel Yunin Zio), and the project will include close cooperation and travel to collaborators in theoretical there.
Candidates, or be close to obtaining a PhD in physics, strong chemistry, or related discipline, will have experience in measuring visual dynamics on nanoparticles and/or visually discovered. In addition to the installed experimental skills, the candidate should perfectly enjoy the experience of work across disciplinary limits. You should expect to participate in building the new optical spectral analysis platforms using lasers as well as some samples. Experience in the field of Plasmonics, metamateals or molecular gates will be useful, as well as with quantitative control of nanotechnology.
