Summer Programs Director

Brentwood School, a vibrant and diverse K-12 independent school, is seeking applicants for the position of Director of Summer Programs (60% time) to start as soon as possible. This is a 12-month position.

Core responsibilities include:

  • Create a seven-week summer program that includes a variety of offerings at each grade level
  • Coordinate day camp, sports camps, middle school summer programs, and upper school academic summer courses and programs
  • Budget management, including payroll and food services
  • Develop, update and maintain the website content and registration system.
  • Ad format
  • Employing teachers, counselors and support staff
  • Facilitating employee training and orientation
  • Supervising the Assistant Director and other staff
  • Oversee the daily operations of the program during the summer
    • Includes work with facilities, events and public safety
  • Identify and develop future program offerings that will keep the summer program fresh and meet the interests of program participants
    • Evaluate the value of individual classes and programs to determine necessary modifications
  • Provide support to the VA scholarship program and recipients.
  • Preparing end-of-summer reports for school administration
  • Participate in and initiate opportunities that demonstrate one’s growth, knowledge and skills
  • Other duties assigned by the interim assistant principal or the senior administrative team

The successful candidate will possess:

  • Detail-oriented approach to work and outstanding organizational skills
  • Strong communication skills including writing, listening and public speaking
  • The energy, patience and sense of humor needed to work effectively with a variety of ingredients
  • Ability to think quickly and make informed decisions
  • Warm and caring personality
  • Experience setting up camps/activities, preferably in a leadership role
  • Bachelor’s degree required with advanced degrees preferred
  • Commitment to justice and strengthening society
  • Engage in professional and personal development with an ongoing commitment to growth

Although vaccination against COVID-19 is not required, it is highly recommended

Compensation: The salary for this role is $50,000. Salary does not include benefits, such as 403b retirement matching, paid lunch time, free breakfast and lunch, free parking, medical support, and generous vacation time.
