Columbus School for Girls (CSG) It is an independent day school in Columbus, Ohio, founded in 1898, serving a diverse student body in pre-K through 12th grade. CSG empowers girls to discover their distinct potential as learners and leaders. As a leader in the education of girls and young women, CSG is a vibrant community of more than 560 students, 135 faculty and staff, and 2,500 active alumni. CSG’s eight-acre academic campus is located in the beautiful Bexley neighborhood, a ten-minute drive from downtown Columbus, a city brimming with artistic, civic and shopping experiences. Columbus Girls School is seeking energetic, creative recruiters Middle School Librarian – Long Term Replacement To cover maternity leave starting on December 2025.

Main functions and responsibilities:

  • Promoting a love of reading and learning in all students
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers and specialists to design and implement lessons and teaching units that enable students to be critical thinkers, enthusiastic readers, skilled researchers, and ethical users of information.
  • Actively participating in the life of the school, including leading clubs and/or activities, chaperoning school trips, and possibly coaching
  • Work with faculty to effectively integrate technology into the curriculum, including co-teaching as needed.
  • Evaluate, enhance and use current and emerging technologies to support teaching and learning.
  • Manage library outreach efforts, including visiting authors, book clubs, and partnerships with libraries and other agencies.

Experience, characteristics and qualities:

  • Minimum bachelor’s degree. Master’s degree preferred
  • Strong candidates will possess an MLIS or similar degree/certification and experience in independent schools and/or libraries
  • An understanding of the value of educating all girls and a desire to identify the best ways to help promising young women achieve their full potential as learners and leaders
  • Excellent communication skills, a genuine appreciation for teens, a sense of humor, and the ability to work well within a diverse and collaborative environment
  • Familiarity with current young adult (YA) and middle grade literature
  • Experience of technology integration that supports teaching and learning as well as social media experience
