the Department of Academic Development and Student Learning (ADSL) It aims to lead and support an improved GCU student learning experience by providing leadership and direction, formulating strategic policy and practice, and by working in partnership with schools, career services and the Students’ Association. The department also supports the university’s public good mission through its commitment to learning and teaching excellence, technology-enhanced learning, educational scholarship, and expanded public engagement and engagement.

The main purpose of this role is to advise, train and support staff in effectively adopting and using Blackboard Ultra and its associated learning technologies. The successful candidate will provide professional and practical support to teaching staff, develop and deliver training programmes, and work collaboratively to ensure the effective use of digital learning systems at Glasgow Central University.

The successful candidate will have:

  • Good working knowledge of Blackboard Learn Ultra, current learning, teaching and assessment techniques, software and VLEs.
  • Experience of working collaboratively with staff in developing and implementing digital learning, teaching and assessment resources
  • Experience developing digital learning and teaching resources using a variety of media for a college or university audience.
  • Experience developing and delivering training materials in the development and use of digital technologies in a variety of flexible formats to suit in-person, online and hybrid scenarios.
  • Experience working with others to identify and design the best possible solutions using digital technologies for teaching, learning and assessment.
  • Confidence in using a range of ICT devices, applications, software and digital capture devices
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills to interact with faculty in a supportive environment
  • Confidence in providing training programs for employees on the use of learning technologies
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work under pressure
