London South Bank University is pleased to be recruiting for the position of Applied Science Laboratory Assistant.

This position will provide the successful candidate with the opportunity to work with a team of professional technicians supporting all courses in the School of Applied Sciences, including Biomedical and Forensic Sciences. Science and pharmaceutical sciences.

You will be involved in various daily tasks that may include preparing solutions and equipment, setting up process procedures, assisting with stock orders, and maintaining laboratory cleanliness.

You will learn from an expert technical team and have the opportunity to develop knowledge and experience in areas that interest you.

You will also gain experience and insight into the entire facility’s operations, and exposure to a broad cross-section of our academic and technical activities.

About you:

We look forward to hearing from candidates who have the following skills/experience:

• Practical experience in preparing solutions for scientific experiments and setting up associated laboratory workstations.
• Practical experience in scientific instrument installation and troubleshooting.
• Ability to demonstrate the use of standard laboratory equipment by providing clear instructions to users.

The ideal candidate will have an educational qualification either with a degree, HND or at least L3. Experience operating an autoclave is also highly desirable.

To be successful as an applied science laboratory assistant, you will need to have an investigative mind and be keen on a career in science. You will have a positive and “can do” attitude at work.

You will have an understanding of health and safety in relation to science laboratories and will be willing to undertake further training where necessary.

You will need customer support experience in a technical support or training capacity and will be willing to develop your skills in all the disciplines we support. Training will be provided when needed.
