The library, archive and open research services (LAROS) in LSHTM is looking for a architect to join the team. This role is a 7 -level archiving training and record manager, which enables Archivist to be qualified through a new technical training way. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who faces barriers to obtain a traditional qualification for graduate studies in the archives management to enter the profession and gain valuable experience in a large -scale role.
Vocational training consists of 7 levels of archives and vocational training from a three -year learning period, followed by a six -month evaluation period. The trainee will spend a 7 -day level per week at work, learn in the job, and one day a week in learning out of work. During the outskirts of work, the trainee will attend online training sessions and with it with the adult education service in Westminster, complete independent learning or writing about their work for the evidence of evidence, which is used to evaluate the end point.
Daily running duties of the search room include archive, supervision of researchers, daily operation for LSHTM management service, publishing activities, including tours and events, assisting archive assistant on a catalog and maintaining archive materials. Supports the post and helps in all aspects of the delivery of archive services, ensuring an excellent level of customer service.
A successful candidate will have excellent communication skills, and it is focused on customers. Excellent organizational skills and the ability to define the priorities of information technology skills, accuracy and attention to details, the ability to take responsibility, show initiative and solve problems, and the ability to develop skills and work towards common goals as part of the team. Applicants must show interest in the profession of archives and records, knowing and committing to comprehensive practice. Incentive and commitment to complete the 7 -year -old vocational training is also required. Other details are included in the job description.
The mail holder must work on the site in the archives from 09.00-17.00 Monday, Tuesday, Khamis and Friday, attending online training sessions and at Westminster on Wednesday.
The post is fixed for 42 months and full -time, 1 fTE. The salary will be on the LRSHTM salary scale, of 3 degree in the range of 29,814 pounds – 33,457 pounds annually (including weighting in London). Introduction training will be arranged before the first shift.
The post will be subject to LSHTM terms and service provisions. The annual leave right is 30 working days per year, PRO RATA for part -time employees. In addition, there are appreciation “welfare days”. Pension scheme membership is available.
