In the computer systems laboratory, we aim to employ multiple doctoral students in national and international research projects in the field Protecting software at the endFor example, techniques such as filling out programs aimed at preventing and tampering with reverse programs. Both offensive research and defensive research are possible, or a mixture of two.
Topics of interest that we plan to work on
- Decision support to use software protection tools (i.e., to determine the protection that must be applied in the program);
- New nutrition and stations recipes for LLMS defeat and other artificial reflection engineering tools;
- Using artificial intelligence technologies and LLMS to improve reverse engineering strategies;
- Modeling techniques to evaluate the required voltage to install inverse engineering and tampering attacks;
- Integration of software protection techniques in industrial development cycles.

Financing
Our financing covers 4 years of doctoral research as a PhD student, with the extension of the possible fifth year, on any start date. Moreover, you will have an employee -like position at the University of Ghost with a total income of about 50 thousand euros/year that allows the comfortable independent living in Belgium and thus focus on research.
Required qualifications
Candidates have a master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering or equivalent. Experience in any of the following are very relevant: software development and programming tools (for example, Defuggers, compounds, software analysis and rewriting tools and techniques), software protection (overcoming), software penetration (reverse engineering, absurdity), machine learning, advanced use of LLMS. The experience with UNIX -like environments and software development in the context of large software (open source) projects is of high value.
The applicant must be greatly driven through applied research that includes conceptual evaluation in addition to experimental evaluation through the initial model applications, the ability to work well in a variety, comfortable giving and receiving constructive criticism, and is strong in analytical, innovative and critical thinking in judgment. Work positions including organized work that focuses on results, discuss open research and communication. Being proficient in the spoken and written English is an absolute demand.
Work and living in sang, Belgium
Ghent is a great and open place to live, our laboratory is a great place to work and start the search profession. We support doctoral students in the attendance of summer schools and participate in training abroad. Belgium has excellent social security and health care, which will have full access as a doctoral student. Each academic year, you will be asked to teach (usually) a single course, probably a course in the protection of software or software, which you will do in English.
