Maryland Marine Archeology Program Overview and STAMP Careers – Underwater Archeology and Maritime History
The Maryland Marine Archeology Program is a unit of the Maryland Department of Planning, Maryland Historical Trust. It was created in 1988 to research, inventory, and manage underwater cultural resources in Maryland. Learn about the scope of the program, current research, and the Department of Antiquities’ Multi-State Marking of Shipwrecks (STAMP) program.
Troy J. will visit us. Novak to speak about the Maryland Marine Archeology Program and STAMP. Since 2010, Troy has worked at the Maryland Historical Foundation as an underwater archaeologist. He has been involved in fieldwork, site surveying, education and outreach as well as collaborating with the DNR on long-range plans to protect historic properties throughout the state. Troy holds master’s degrees in anthropology and marine archeology from Texas A&M University where he also holds graduate certificates in historic preservation training. He has worked on a variety of terrestrial and marine archaeological sites throughout his career, serving as a supervisor, archaeologist, dive safety officer, and conservation research assistant. In addition, he participates in non-profit archaeological research programs around the world.
This meeting will be held for the NHSM Antiquities Club personally It is free and open to the public, although non-members are asked to make a $5 donation to support the club.

The NHSM Archeology Club was founded in 2019 to promote the value of archeology in Baltimore City, Baltimore County, and surrounding areas. The club’s goal is to educate citizens and residents in the ethics and methods of archaeology and to document, discover, and promote local history. The Arch Club is inclusive of all people with an interest in archaeology.
Although you don’t need to be a member to attend a meeting, membership gives you access to additional experiences. Annual membership to NHSM is $35 for individuals, $50 for families; Arch Club membership is an additional $5 for individuals and $10 for families.
