Equipment Operator V – Streets

Are you looking for a diverse and exciting opportunity? Our V – Streets Equipment Operator may be a perfect fit for you! In this full-time temporary position, you will gain the experience you need to advance your career within the organization. As a V-Streets Equipment Operator, you will assume a leadership role in operating and maintaining a variety of heavy equipment to support road repair and maintenance activities. This position is responsible for completing complex street operations, ensuring safe work practices, and providing guidance and direction to junior operators and crew members. The successful candidate must have the following qualifications:

1. Completion of high school education or its equivalent.
2. Valid BC Driver’s License – Class 1 with air brake endorsement (for side-by-side operation with pup).
3. At least one year’s previous experience driving a tandem axle vehicle in city traffic and tight spaces, including three months’ experience operating a roller, loader and bulldozer for road construction.
4. A minimum of three months prior experience in municipal road construction, including 500 hours of municipal operational experience on a grader.

For new employees, and for those working in certain positions of trust, including those working directly with vulnerable people, no formal offer of employment will be made until the applicant has completed a police information check. A comprehensive benefits package is included in this position. This is CUPE Local 900.
Please note that this is a temporary position from approximately November 3, 2025 until February 20, 2026.

7:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Summer) 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM (Winter) or 4:00 PM – 12:00 AM 12:00 AM – 8:00 AM Standby on Weekends
