Contract type and position: From 03 November 2026 for a period of 24 months from start date

about us:

in Department of Physiology, Anatomy and Genetics (DPAG) We undertake discovery science as we reassemble physiological processes at the level of molecular, cellular, tissue and systems organization. In doing so, we provide a bridge to translational medicine, an interface between the physical sciences and the life sciences. We are committed not only to innovative research and the highest standards of teaching, but also to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment.

Role Overview:

The Research Assistant will provide research support for a neuroscience laboratory that studies how cortical circuits enable behavior. The laboratory combines mouse behavioral models with cutting-edge technologies. The position holder provides scientific, technical and administrative support to laboratory members. Scientists include the principal investigator (Professor Randy Bruno), postdoctoral researchers, graduate students, and undergraduate students.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing special research and administrative activities
  • Contribute to wider project planning, including ideas for new research projects
  • Determine the most appropriate methodologies for testing hypotheses
  • Define, monitor and adapt experimental protocols
  • Collect, analyze and present scientific data from a variety of sources
  • Contributing to scientific reports, journal articles, and presenting data/papers at conferences

Selection criteria:

  • Experience in following and adapting protocols and selecting appropriate experimental methodologies
  • Hold a first degree or master’s degree
  • Possess sufficient specialized knowledge in the specialty to work within established research programs
  • Ability to manage own research and administrative activities
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Commitment to addressing, raising awareness and integrating equality, diversity and inclusion into your work.
