The role

There is an exciting opportunity within the Bristol Composites Institute at the University of Bristol to join our world-leading team in modeling composite body manufacturing processes.

What will you do?

High-quality numerical analysis is an important part of understanding and designing the fabrication of composite structures to produce high-quality components. Here, the role holder will develop and deploy digital tools to predict composite formation processes, with a particular focus on new material configurations such as short pre-fibers. You will work within a team of researchers that includes experimentalists who generate data to characterize materials and validate models as well as research software engineers to support code development. The research will include the creation of custom written codes and the use of commercial finite element software and user subroutines that will provide new solutions to virtual manufacturing methods. Appointment will be to Research Associate or Senior Research Associate, depending on level of experience, see document for additional details.

You must apply then

You will have a MSc in Engineering/Materials Science or a closely related discipline and preferably a PhD in Engineering/Materials Science. You will also have good experience in finite element analysis techniques, programming (C++/FORTRAN and Python) and composite material manufacturing and production processes. The appointment will be for a period of 12 months in the first instance.
