This is a 26 -month term function in the Specialized Library Secretary Classification (PLB2/4A).

Iowa University libraries seek to rent an organized library and directed towards the details of the service for a 26 -month allocated date as a coordinator of the Map Map Project (MPC) (MPC) project (Specialized Library Secretary Pl2/4A classification). Upon supervision of a half -time graduate assistant, the librarian will lead the project team to achieve the general goal of evaluating and improving the map collection and improving its arrival. The librarian will determine the materials within the current group and outside, which is likely to see the use of our sponsors and will cooperate with special groups and archives to ensure the discovery of the group. They will also work with the Secretary of the Government Information Library to ensure compliance with the Federal Deposit Library program and will evaluate the materials preserved through special groups and archiving to improve the description and digitization. This work will bring the map group to the present and revitalize it in the future by addressing the physical improvement of the group and increasing access to its digital counterpart.

Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Work with a rare book Secretary and maps to determine the disposal of map collection materials.
  • Cooperation with colleagues in private groups and archives, Metadata Digitization, and other departments to improve access to map collection materials.
  • Supervising the postgraduate assistant to work on identifying barcode, mark, suitable and re -coordination, and performing other tasks as needed.
  • Planning and implementing assembly projects, including improvement, description and treatment. Determination of alternatives to the maps prescribed for Deaccessioning and facilitating transportation.
  • Cooperation with other employees to maintain a sustainable and effective workflow.
  • Contributing to the profession through service, research, publishing,/or teaching and the university community by participating in relevant librarians and universities.
  • Additional job duties were appointed based on individual knowledge, skills and capabilities.

Required qualifications

  • Graduate Studies Certificate in Library Science from ALA or IDP program.
  • Show attention to the history of mapping, methods, scholarships, and/or related fields.
  • Excellent written and personal communication skills.
  • The ability to work in an environment based on the team was shown where consulting, flexibility, reliability, initiative, creativity, cooperation and cooperation are necessary.
  • The ability to support a welcoming and respectful environment showed a job related to a job, academic and/or community preparation.
  • The ability to move 50 pounds from time to time and deal with large substances.

Favorite qualifications
