Candidates with a particular research focus and interests in the areas of solidification science and metal casting are of particular interest and are therefore strongly encouraged to apply. Candidates with distinguished accomplishments in their field and an exceptional national and international reputation will be eligible to be considered for significant support from the Endowment through appointment as a Shelby Distinguished Endowed Professor (https://provost.ua.edu/the-shelby-endowment-for-distinguished-faculty/). This gifted Shelby Distinguished Professor is one of the highest honors bestowed upon a faculty member at the University of Alabama.
