Metallurgy and Materials Engineering – Associate Professor University of Alabama
Department of Metallurgy and Materials Engineering (MTE): https://mte.eng.ua.edu/) and the College of Engineering (Center of Excellence: https://eng.ua.edu/) at the University of Alabama (UA: https://ua.edu/) Call for applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of Associate Professor. Candidates with a particular research focus and interests in the areas of solidification science and metal casting are of particular interest and are therefore strongly encouraged to apply.

Demonstrate a record of high-quality, nationally and/or internationally recognized scientific research and publications particularly in the fields of metal casting and solidification science.
A significant record of scholarships in metallurgical engineering, materials science, or a closely related department of undergraduate and graduate programs.
Exceptional team, interpersonal and mentoring skills.
Instructions and materials required for application Required application documents include: (1) a cover letter that includes the department name and position rank for which the candidate is applying, (2) a CV/CV, (3) a 4- to 6-page statement of research interests and plans, (4) a 1- to 2-page statement of teaching interests and plans, and (5) names and contact information for at least four references.

The position start date of 16 August 2026 will be typical, but flexibility regarding start date is possible.
