As a software development manager, you are experienced 2Second abbreviation A line manager who will lead a software organization consisting of multiple teams responsible for delivering highly scalable distributed services and applications. Your responsibilities:
As a Software Development Manager, you will:
- Lead a team of talented engineers who want to code and tackle challenging engineering problems
- Be a hands-on manager of a second-line engineering team who will spend up to 60% of your time managing people, hiring and organizing teams, and 40% of your time on design reviews, sprint planning and other Agile work
- Partner with peers in engineering, product management, operations, support, and HR to drive cross-functional project delivery and address technical and resource challenges in your organization
- Guide and guide the professional and technical development of your team members: Help advance their careers, assign them to projects tailored to their skill levels, personalities, work styles and career goals
- Build teams that are collaborative, inclusive, and respect each other
- Provide ongoing feedback, address poor performance, and recognize the strengths and individual contributions of your team members
- Instill a spirit of continuous improvement into the team’s code, architecture, and processes
- Collaborating with your product managers, test managers, and engineers, you can maintain prioritized backlogs and create short-term and long-term goals for your team
- Help your team build relationships across functions such as support, operations, testing and other teams to ensure the continued success of Global Relay
- Appreciate and advocate for information security and secure coding practices
About you:
- Degree in computer science or engineering, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience
- 2+ years of experience as 2Second abbreviation A software development manager or senior manager oversees an organization of 20 or more people, including management 1street Line managers or potential customers
- More than 3 years of experience as practical training 1street A software development manager or team leader, manages a team of 3 or more people
- 8+ years of software development experience, shipping enterprise-level software, using multiple languages and frameworks
- Extensive experience in people management, strong experience in recruiting and building a software development organization
- Experience building and managing large, highly scalable distributed services, complex databases, microservices, service APIs, and resource-oriented architectures
- Experience in dealing with large complex databases and managing data quality and lifecycle issues
- Understand modern frameworks and technologies for building web application user interfaces
- Experience with any of the following is an asset:
- Java or .NET Core
- Javascript
- reaction
- Docker or Kubernetes
- CI/CD systems
- Big data technology
- Security in the enterprise environment
compensation:
Global Relay advertises the pay range for this role in accordance with BC pay transparency laws. Individual pay rates are determined by evaluating factors such as experience, skills, education and professional background.
The range below reflects expected annual base salary, which is just one element of our comprehensive total rewards package designed to reflect the pay philosophy, culture and values of our company. We aim to foster an inspiring work environment and support the work and life rhythms of employees. We offer a comprehensive and extensive health benefits program, including virtual health care and a wellness allowance. Employees also receive allocated annual leave days, which increase based on length of service. Other benefits include: paid sick days, maternity/parenting enhancement program, corporate bonuses, and RRSP contribution matching program.

British Columbia – Base Salary Range
$130,000 – $155,000 CAD
