Functional purpose

  • The Area Manager, Port Harcourt 1, is responsible for increasing secondary sales by making Unilever products available and visible to the consumer in the assigned area. Manage distributors and distributor sales force and ensure optimal execution of the company’s commercial activities and promotional plans across all relevant channels.

What will be your main responsibilities?

The right stores

  • Expand coverage to include all viable stores in line with area plans
  • Make sure the effective coverage is as close to 100% as possible
  • Always be informed of new store openings
  • Improved controlled coverage through Sub-D and Mainstream

Better stores

  • Ensure HHTs are used to meet all store assigned tasks
  • Ensure the correct merchandising tasks are performed by a DSR-supported merchant
  • Increase the number of ideal stores under your coverage

Better served

  • Ensure orders are fully executed on time
  • Improving the proposed sales operations in terms of quantity and assortment suitable for store expansion
  • Providing the appropriate service frequency and category level or common DSR to reserve requests
  • Managing customer complaints and KD

Achieving the goal

  • Achieve 100% achievement of all KPIs within assigned areas and all relevant channels.

Building a distribution network by leveraging brands

  • Core Leadership Core / Distribution Drives / New Launches / Promotion Packs / Improving Shelf Availability of Key SKUs Promoted / Appropriate Assortments in Relevant Stores

Launch/relaunch

  • Driving digital and weighted distribution (more stores, based on shelf availability and shelf sharing)
  • Drive the success of channel programs with relevant stores and ensure desired goals are achieved.
  • Propose relevant channel activities for the territory to the District, Regional and Channel Managers.

In-store implementation

  • Implement optimal store programs to win at point of sale
  • Ensure implementation of in-store objectives during training and accompanying DSRs.
  • Business environment

Distributor management

  • Appoint the distributor
  • Regular stock taking and order settlement
  • Implementation of GBP
  • DSR training/development
  • DT controls
  • Performance evaluation
  • Customer service
  • Hygiene Liver Edge

Trade Service: DT is the face of Unilever in the market for retailers. All major issues and grievances must be dealt with sensitively and in a timely manner.

  • Regular coverage for all stores on the Beat plan
  • Deliver stock on time to stores
  • Adding new stores that may be opened in the market
  • Pathological levels of secondary CCFOT
  • Settle commercial claims for stores on time
  • Ensuring the quality of the products on the shelf and the price in Kuwaiti dinars

Competitive intelligence

The Territory Manager is the eyes and ears on the battlefield and therefore must always be on the lookout for competitive intelligence e.g

  • New launches
  • Price changes
  • Consumer promotions
  • New distribution strategies
  • New channel programs
  • Sampling activities by competitors
  • Wholesale trends

Any activity observed should be reported to the line manager as soon as possible.

Experience and qualifications

What you will need to succeed

  • – 2-4 years of experience in sales.
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills.
