UBC’s Practical Agriculture in Sustainable Agriculture is an experiential learning program that runs three to four days a week, from April to October (or April to August for summer students) and provides an introduction to growing small-scale organic mixed vegetables for sale through direct markets. The program is implemented on-site at the UBC farm. Students bring a variety of backgrounds and life experiences to the practicum. The program is open to everyone. You do no You must be a UBC student (see details below for minimum qualifications). The program is intended for beginners – new to the field of vegetable production.

Students get to see their fields from seed to sale (at their hands-on stand at the UBC Farm Market on Saturdays), offer much of their produce to our community partners, and take home loads of food during the season. The majority of the program time is spent learning in the areas; However, the program also includes field trips to other farms, bi-weekly reading discussions, assignments, and study sessions.
