We are looking for a Purchasing Analyst To join our Procurement Services department focusing on Contract management For WorkSafeBC.

Reporting to the Director of Procurement Services, in this role, you will research, develop, recommend and implement strategies to improve our sourcing practices while working closely with senior management. You will be relied upon to interpret and apply legislative policy, laws and procedures by participating in changes to procurement systems, and providing training, informed advice and recommendations on procurement policy and procedures. Additionally, you may provide work direction to a variety of staff positions within the Procurement Services Department as part of leadership development.

How you will make a difference: You will help protect the financial health of BC’s workers’ compensation system, ensuring that we serve British Columbians now and into the future.

Where will you work?

At WorkSafeBC, we offer a hybrid work model that combines remote and in-office work based on the operational needs of the job.

This position requires the successful candidate to work two days per week in our Richmond office.

What will you do?

  • Monitor contractual performance and compliance, ensure that contractual obligations and requirements are met by all parties, and resolve contractual disputes and issues.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date contract records and documentation, including contract changes, renewals, and amendments.
  • Coordinate the contract review process such as collecting and analyzing data and making recommendations on potential problems and opportunities for consolidation, contracting and cost reduction
  • Develop long-term business relationships with new and potential First Nation service providers and suppliers to the organization
  • Develop and maintain successful, long-term business relationships with all current and potential buyers and suppliers of the organization
  • Manage a comprehensive portfolio of complex procurement projects, working independently to anticipate and respond to problems and customer needs, exploring creative and innovative alternatives and developing recommendations
  • Assist, participate in and lead projects with significant impacts on the organization to address emerging issues
  • Provide supervision and guidance to junior team members to help them achieve company goals and assist the team through knowledge and application of leadership and team building skills and techniques such as group facilitation, coordination, coaching, problem solving, interpersonal communication, and integration of work processes and products.

Is this right for you?

We are looking for someone who can:

  • Identify, define, analyze and apply law and policy to issues and facts to assess impact, recognize appropriateness, evaluate options and make recommendations
  • Plan, lead and facilitate the procurement process in multi-disciplinary procurement project team meetings, negotiating complex contracts and service agreements
  • Use effective communication skills to present information to audiences with different levels of experience and answer questions
  • Train and motivate individuals and work groups to provide clear work direction and encourage a high level of customer service
  • Use project management principles and techniques including estimating costs, determining resource requirements, establishing schedules, monitoring progress, and using interpersonal skills to manage the expectations of internal stakeholders

Your background and experience

  • A Bachelor’s degree Or a two-year post-secondary diploma in purchasing, business administration, economics or any related discipline
  • A At least six years of progressive experience in procurement and/or contract managementIncludes experience in a senior position or leading complex procurement projects
  • Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification from the Supply Chain Management Society of Canada
  • All other qualifications being equal, preference will be given to candidates with a First Nation background; Or who have worked directly with (or within) First Nation organizations and clients.

salary: $48.47 – $61.10 per hour
