About the program:

Each year, we sponsor two UX interns remotely from anywhere in the world to join us for 7 months, either in the fall or spring semesters or online. Our UX interns work through a comprehensive UX design and UX research process to source a startup idea of ​​their choice that will help them attract hiring managers in that field or industry.

Trainees take our program for free and receive one-on-one mentoring throughout the 7-month programme. UX interns go on to make anywhere from $85,000-$130,000 in UX design, product design, UX research, or service design roles after completing the program.

We’re committed to helping women, immigrants, POC, and LGBTQ people break into tech careers and land 6-figure UX jobs. We help you get 6-figure UX jobs or train you until you get them.

Apprenticeship requirements:

This apprenticeship program is open to recent graduates and UX career changers alike! Here are some apprenticeship requirements to consider before applying:

• Interested in creative career paths in UX research, UX design, product design, or service design
• Willing to commit 5-10 work hours per week to complete program deliverables
• Willing to attend 2-3 hour weekend lectures to learn the overall design process or willing to complete online video course modules
• Open to feedback from UX mentors and demonstrates willingness to review design work

Apprenticeship program lessons:

• Building digital products and services 0-1
• Lead a comprehensive design process for your startup idea or theme of choice
• Lead product scope and feature scoping, as well as manage the entire project
• Define the product’s target market and position the product for launch success
• Develop a business model for the product or service and explain how the product/service will expand as the business model expands
• Lead discovery research by managing user recruitment, creating research plans, writing interview guides, leading 8-16 discovery interviews, and compiling interview insights
• Deliver an engaging user experience design and business presentation for your startup idea, showcasing qualitative and quantitative data to justify the problem space and solution
• Tell a compelling story about your users by displaying user types, personas, stakeholder maps, journey maps, process maps, service diagrams, thinking matrices, sketches, wireframes, UX workflows, prototypes and other visual deliverables
• Lead user testing of wireframes and prototypes to improve product/service usability and continuously iterate your startup idea
• Design a unique design system for your solution from scratch, and create the components, style guide and branding for your solution
• Analyze direct and indirect competitors to clearly articulate the advantages of your solution and why your solution is innovative and more likely to succeed than competing options
• Consult with startups to create a scope of work and perform UX research, UX design, product design, and service design work based on your scope of work.

You don’t need to have a resume or UX portfolio to apply– We take into account people who are at the beginning of their career change, and who are still exploring multiple career options.

You will receive UX tips and challenges via email to help you transition into UX and you will be contacted by us if you are considered for the Trainee Programme. Once you are contacted, you will go through a short interview process before joining the group. Due to the high volume of applicants, we are unable to contact all applicants regarding the status of their applications. If you do not hear from us about an interview within two months of submitting your application, please consider your application closed. We consider applicants on a rolling basis.
