We are currently hiring a Development Director for School Engagement. This is a full-time field position that requires extensive travel throughout southern Arizona. Flexibility in hours, including early morning and evening, is essential to meet the needs of schools and events.

In this fast-paced fundraising/sales position, you will engage K-12 students in the Kids Heart Challenge and the American Heart Challenge, working with hundreds of schools to promote physical activity and learning. The role also involves extensive data management, constantly updating account information in customer relationship management (CRM) databases and Microsoft Office products.

Responsibilities

This position is directly responsible for achieving overall fundraising goals through exceptional volunteer recruitment and engagement, customer service, and account management – All while motivating children to take care of their health .

  • Recruit and engage students across schools and districts in life-saving initiatives including Kids heart challenge and American Heart Challenge Programs.

  • Implement strategies and initiatives to fully engage students through classroom challenges, activities, and student assemblies (in-person and digital experiences).

  • Continuously developing and developing relationships with teachers, school principals and district supervisors.

  • Establish and maintain outstanding customer service with volunteers and other collaborators. This includes detailed planning and kick-off meetings to set schools up for success.

  • Manage and keep account information updated within customer relationship management (CRM) databases and Microsoft products.

  • Manage large scale accounts for 100 or more schools which involves regularly working with 5-10 schools daily – in person where possible or online/via phone.

Qualifications

  • 3 years of relevant experience in fundraising, sales, or other relevant experience. New graduates are welcomed and encouraged to apply.

  • Ability to undertake daily local travel and occasional overnight travel; Requires access to reliable transportation at all times and on an immediate basis.

  • University/college degree or equivalent experience.

  • Ability to work productively and effectively from the home office and in the field in accordance with the Association’s Flexible Work Arrangements Policy.

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and communicate proactively.

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, “we can do it” environment.

  • This position requires extensive data management, requiring constant updating of account information within our CRM databases; Proficiency in using Microsoft Office and the ability to efficiently manage and report data using CRMs is essential.

  • Ability to lift and/or move large items (e.g. boxes) with the expectation that heavier items will be broken down into smaller components or additional assistance may be required prior to lifting and/or moving.

  • Candidates must be willing to work flexible hours, including early mornings and evenings, to actively engage with schools and manage events.
