The Leadership Team is seeking an applicant who has been called by God to serve as Associate Pastor alongside the Senior Pastor with a clear path toward succession. This role begins as part of a small, close-knit work team responsible for day-to-day operations, providing input and perspective on direction. This position is designed as a path of succession, and includes mentoring and shared leadership responsibilities aimed at leading to the role of Senior Pastor.

Sharptown has a brave and loyal history. Rooted in the Wesleyan Holiness tradition, our church recently made the unanimous decision to leave the United Methodist Church and join the Church of Christ in Christian Union. This step reflects our commitment to God’s Word and to the holiness-centered witness in our community.

Today, Sharptown hosts three Sunday services with a growing online presence. Each gathering features Spirit-led worship, relevant biblical messages, and powerful age-level ministries. Motivated by the transforming message of Jesus, we are committed to the gospel movement that changes lives, deepens relationships, and reflects God’s love.

Candidate profile:

The Prayer Search Committee is seeking an inspiring communicator who will guide our congregation into the upcoming season of ministry. The ideal candidate is keen to invest in people, develop leaders, and collaborate with staff and volunteers. This person must combine pastoral gifts, vision, and leadership ability to advance to the role of Senior Pastor.

Education and experience
– Division M. Or a Master’s degree in Ministry (or equivalent experience) is preferred.
– At least 5 years of service in the local church
– Ministry of Personnel experience is highly preferred

Personal characteristics and qualifications
– A personal and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and adherence to the authority of Scripture
– Ability to teach the Bible effectively to a diverse group
– Servant of the heart, self-aware, and self-motivated
– Team oriented with strong interpersonal and organizational skills coupled with good communication in written, oral and electronic media
– Strong understanding of and respect for the local church including a desire to develop growth strategies among children, youth and adults.

Key Responsibilities:

Worship and education
– Assist with or lead worship services
– Preach regularly as a platform speaker
– Lead Bible studies and faith formation programs

Pastoral care
– Providing guidance and spiritual guidance
– Visiting the sick and homebound
– Providing support to those in need

Awareness and community participation
– Develop community outreach and service programs including discipleship ministries and missions
– Building relationships with external organizations
– Represent Sharptown at community gatherings
