The Daily News Producer is responsible for developing and producing video news stories that will resonate with CNN’s digital audience. They will monitor the day’s news, pitch story ideas, collect items, research, write scripts, edit video at home, films with reporters in the office, and, in rare cases, in the field. They will think of sharp angles and creative ways to explain the news.

The ideal candidate is a video-first storyteller who thrives in a fast-paced news environment and enjoys the challenge of short-form editing. They are a reporter who values ​​accuracy and fairness; A team player ready to jump in and help at a moment’s notice. They must have extensive experience working independently, writing scripts and editing projects in Premiere Adobe. They can evaluate the news value of a story and use the data to predict audience interest. A love of news and a creative mindset are a must, along with the ability to navigate a large, deadline-driven organization.

This is primarily an afternoon and evening role.

Your responsibilities Your role:
• Research, write scripts and edit video for all digital platforms
• Finding sharp angles in the news
• Monitor breaking news, live events, and social search/trends
• Brainstorm and generate story ideas regularly
• Film in-office/studio video and occasionally work with reporters in the field on breaking news and news stories
• Experiment with new video formats on multiple platforms; Find ways to show and explain the news creatively
• Coordination with colleagues in CNN offices around the world

Qualifications and Experience:
• 5+ years working in a major media outlet, or equivalent experience
• Deep understanding of video and digital social media platforms
• Experience fact-checking stories and conducting interviews
• Passion for breaking news and current events
• Proficient with Adobe Premiere post production
• Familiarity with filming interviews and broll sequences
• Proven track record of collaborating in a deadline-driven environment
• Strong writing, communication and interpersonal skills
• Must be able to work weekends, overnights and extended hours as the news cycle and deadlines require
• Foreign language skills a plus

Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to external market data, internal equity, location, skill set, experience, and/or performance. Base pay is just one component of Warner Bros.’ compensation package. Discovery for employees. Pay Range: $67,900.00 – $126,100.00 salary per year.
