The function of litigation/chief litigation advisor at Democracy Defenders Action in Washington, Colombia Province
Organizational
Democratic defenders (DDA) is a non -profit organization under Article 501 (c) (4) dedicated to the defeat of sabotage of elections and their denial, fighting tyranny, and building a flexible democracy. DDA also provides the General Administration of a group of relevant independent entities including the Democratic Democratic Fund (C3), the Democratic Defenders Party, and Democratic defenders ’projects – the home of the new media entity, The ContraRian. The Organization of Democratic Defenders was founded in 2023 by Ambassador Nurim Issen (retired), along with other prominent figures in the defense of democracy, elections and law.
Role summary
The Adviser or the older litigation consultant will play a pivotal role in promoting litigation and legal strategies for DDA in a variety of fields, including but not limited to the protection of elections and the defense of the rule of law. The role is primarily focused on litigation, including at the provincial court level and the level of appeal. The role includes all aspects of experimental litigation, including pre -investigation, formulation of complaints, movement, discovery, and preparation for trial. The ideal candidate will have experience in the trial of the first president, as well as experience in research, formulating legal pleadings, making statements, formulating summaries including objections to dismissal requests, summary judgments, appeals notes, oral pleadings, interaction with the customer, and working closely with external teams, including the external advisor. Prepare for travel is required.
Responsibilities
- Development and leadership of litigation efforts, including identifying ready -made issues for investigation and litigation;
- Leading litigation efforts, including the preparation for trial, strategy, and implementation of decisive cases to defend democracy;
- Work on major litigation tasks such as receiving statements, participating in applications at the provincial court level, and formulating appeals notes.
- Supporting trial works and participating in trials and oral pleadings, including by providing cases analysis, preparing witnesses, pleading in the courtroom and recalling written and oral requests in the court;
- Help in identifying, selecting and maintaining customer relationships in influential litigation;
- Cooperation with multidisciplinary internal teams as well as with external partners, including participating advisers, non -profit allies and external communication specialists, to coordinate the legal strategy and messages;
- Managing a set of active issues while adhering to the final dates, deposits and legal deliveries accurately;
- Production of high -quality, accurate and detailed content often under great time pressure, including the formulation of legal pleadings and friends ’summaries;
- Effectively managing multiple priorities in high -line environments at a high level of legal acumen and attention to details;
- Traveling as needed for statements, trials, appeal arguments, or cooperative strategic meetings;
- Drafting and reviewing the points of conversation and other media materials to amplify work and cases; and
- Complete other tasks as needed.
Qualifications and skills
- Doctorate degree in law from the accredited law school;
- At least 6 years experience in litigation, including trial, discovery and appeal works;
- Membership of the Bar Association in a good position, with the ability to waive the DC Bar membership when employment, if you are not already a member of DC Bar;
- Experience in judicial work, including receiving and defending statements, preparing witnesses, and participating in the oral pleading in the courtroom;
- Experience in drafting the notes of trial and appeal;
- The ability to determine and represent strategic litigation.
- Research, writing, and strong oral skills and strong attention in detail;
- The ability to manage multiple cases, work in a fast -paced environment, and to effectively define different tasks priorities;
- Practice the estimated authority in dealing with sensitive information;
- Experience in working in public interest issues, in non -profit organizations, in the government, as a general defender, or as legal assistance an additional but not required feature; and
- He showed a commitment to protecting democracy and promoting civil rights.
The position is far and can be performed from any state in the United States. Optional personal meetings are held almost regularly in Washington, DC, and evening work may be required depending on the final dates of the situation and other urgent cases.

The salary range for this position is $ 145,000 – $ 1,80,000 in addition to advantages, including generous PTO policy. This position is exempt.
