Fixed term contract for 10 months

Award-winning R&I evidence and analysis service LSE is seeking a Research Officer to work on the UKRI/DSIT-funded project ‘What’s unique about responsive mode funding?’ The project is a collaboration between research management specialists at the London School of Economics and computer scientists at the University of Edinburgh. You will investigate UKRI’s historical administrative data in order to better understand the role of Responsive Mode funding within the wider UK R&D ecosystem.

The role will involve analyzing administrative data and developing (with computer science colleagues) visualizations and written deliverables that provide new insights into responsive mode funding programmes. The research will seek to understand the impact of responsive funding on areas such as research trends, interdisciplinary levels, cross-sector collaboration, policy engagement, and knowledge transfer. The position will be based in the R&D Evidence and Analysis team within the Research and Innovation Department. There will be opportunities to interact with world-class social science researchers at LSE via the project steering group as well as opportunities to establish interdisciplinary collaborations with members of the project team working in high performance computing at the University of Edinburgh.

The position holder will have a doctoral degree, be working toward completing a doctoral degree, or have other research experience that demonstrates the ability to produce original, independent research. They will also have experience working with large administrative datasets and are expected to have a strong understanding of the UK research and innovation policy and funding landscape.

This is a fixed term position at 0.8FTE (28 hours per week) for 10 months.
