About the role

We are looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivated Backend Engineer Solana experience To help build the next generation of decentralized trading protocols on Solana. You will own and improve our back-end services while contributing to the design and implementation of new features. This is an opportunity to work on off-chain systems and developer facing APIs that are technically challenging, ensuring high performance and reliable features for CoW Swap on Solana.

• Backend code: Rust Tokyo Cargo Jet (https://github.com/cowprotocol/services)
• Infrastructure: Polomi, AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Grafana, Prometheus, Elasticsearch
• Other code bases: Typewriter, Python, Solidity

What will you do?

• Design and develop off-chain services (core auction protocol and order book) to support the growth of evolving features and needs in Solana
• Write concurrent backend systems in Rust and interact with Solana smart contracts, expanding your understanding of Solana software and on-chain mechanics
• Participate in our on-call rotations to maintain the reliability of production systems (In addition, work is compensated on demand)
• Collaborate closely with researchers and product team to ship features and solve complex technical issues
• Deliver high-quality code from concept to production, including monitoring and observability of production systems
• Provide thoughtful code reviews of colleagues’ contributions to our open source code base

Who are you

• More than 5 years production experience with Systems-level programming languageswith at least 1+ years of practical experience in production using Rust
• Practical experience in Solana development (Write/maintain software in Rust, using Anchor or similar frameworks)
• Strong skills in computer science, programming and algorithms
• Experience in engineering, operating and maintaining complex software systems
• Commitment to code quality, readability, observability, and testability
• Proactive in giving technical direction to improve performance, prevent issues and optimize data usage
• A team player with excellent communication skills, able to collaborate effectively in a remote-first environment
• Ideally, senior-level experience mentoring colleagues and providing technical guidance
• Excited to contribute to the CoW Swap on Solana and help shape the cross-chain DeFi protocol
