We are looking for a file Senior product designer To lead the evolution of solutions for our practice area, with a focus on building and enhancing legal workflows. This role is available to candidates throughout the United States or Canada (excluding Quebec) in a remote capacity. If you are local to one of our centers (Burnaby, Calgary, or Toronto), you will be expected to be in the office at least two days a week for anchor days.

What your team does:

At CLIO, “practice areas” refer to specific branches of law such as family, criminal or corporate law, which influence how lawyers provide services to their clients. Success in this role means enabling lawyers to embrace Clio more deeply into their daily practice while giving our platform the flexibility to expand into new legal areas quickly and sustainably.

This role is a strategic individual contributor position that blends ownership of experiential strategy with close collaboration across design, product, and engineering. You will help shape the future of our legal platform by integrating AI and automation into the core of practice area workflows to make legal work simpler, smarter and more human.

Design is central to Clio’s R&D, working alongside products, research, data science and engineering to revolutionize legal technology. We enable our designers to deeply understand user needs, shaping how lawyers serve their clients. What you will work on:

• Own the design and implementation strategy to expand the practice area, defining seamless end-to-end workflows for how to get legal work done from scratch. This is an emerging space for Cleo, so we are looking for someone who is eager to drive the agenda and make their mark.
• Collaborate across product, engineering, and AI teams to build intelligent, scalable systems that support a wide range of practice areas and company types.
• Leverage user research and real-world data to understand practitioners’ needs and design solutions that simplify, automate, and elevate their daily work.
• Contribute to our design system and foundational UX patterns to ensure consistency, accessibility, and performance across our growing platform.
• Train designers and educators, sharing your expertise in complex systems design, prototyping, and storytelling.
• Champion Accessibility and Integration, ensuring every attorney, employee, and client can access the tools they need to succeed

What to bring:

• 6+ years of product design experience, ideally within SaaS or enterprise software.
• Proven success in designing complex, high-impact domains such as workflow or automation tools.
• Strong UX craft across research, data analysis, interaction, visual design, prototyping (we use FIGMA).
• Strong service and systems design orientation, with experience in mapping, automating and optimizing collaborative workflows.
• Experience experimenting with AI/ML solutions, designing automation, personalization or intelligent workflows.
• Deep understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and universal design.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
• Enthusiasm for mentorship, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Nice to have:

• Experience working in the legal industry or legal technology.

The full salary range* for this role is $128,400 to $151,000 to $173,600. Additionally, benefit offerings may vary depending on the employee’s location.

*We aim to hire all candidates between the low end and the midpoint of the full salary range. We reserve the midpoint to the maximum of the salary band for internal employees who demonstrate consistent high performance and impact at CLIO. The final offer amount for this role depends on the individual experience and skills of the candidate. Please note that there is a separate set of salary bands for other regions based on the local currency.
