Responsibilities
The President of Ringling Art Library Services provides leadership and sets priorities for all aspects of the Museum’s Museum Library under the direction of the Associate Director for Academics, Innovation, and Research. This role develops policies, programs, and long-range and long-range planning and planning related to the library’s collections.
- Manages, reviews, and directs the Ringling Art Library, operations, and operations. Leads in the concept and implementation of plans to expand the role of library services and bring them together in a user-centered environment that combines resources in both traditional and digital formats.
- Supervises library staff, interns, and volunteers. Establishes performance objectives and duties, conducts annual evaluations, assesses training needs and makes recommendations for further employee development and recruitment.
- Develop an annual budget for library operations and monitor budget spending.
- Supervises the development of the library’s collections and collection development plan; Ensure that the group remains current and comprehensive.
- Oversees all acquisitions by purchase and gift/exchange to ensure the comprehensiveness of the library’s collection, including receipt, processing, and payment of materials.
- Responsible for the Rare Book Collection, consulting with the Museum Museum, oversees the preservation and repair of the Library’s rare book collection.
- Conducts research on all aspects of the Ringling legacy and collections as well as other topics related to the visual arts and cultural history.
- Coordinates, leads and participates in public programming for an innovative library, including but not limited to, the Literary Book Club.
- Provides reference services and research support to assist staff, faculty, and the public in research and development of curricula, exhibits, and programming.
- Assists with reference, operation and general services and promotes the use of current and emerging technologies.
- Works with the Advancement team to identify strong relationships with donors and constituents, such as Friends of the Library.
- Collaborates with FSU Libraries faculty and staff as needed to support library services at Ringling.
- Contributes to the library profession through research and publishing. Represents Ringling by attending and participating in professional associations, seminars and conferences.
- Serves on museum committees and special projects as appointed by the Executive Director including institution-wide departmental projects that have provided administrative, administrative, and programmatic support for Ringing initiatives such as the Disaster Preparedness Team and the Ringling Deployment Committee.
- Performs other duties as an allocator which support library activities and museum operations.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Library Science (MLS/MLIs/MSI) from an ALA-accredited program or advanced degree in a related discipline.
- Three years of experience in libraries or similar settings related to research and academic learning.
- Three years of administrative experience (staff, programs and budgets).
- Experience with:
- Technological systems related to library management.
- Reference/research services, and various literacy instruction.
- Commitment to public service and user-centered library practices with excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to:
- Work collaboratively and independently in a dynamic and changing environment.
- Lift boxes of books and supplies up to 25 pounds, transport books, and reach overhead for lifting books.
Preferred qualifications
- Five years’ experience in libraries or similar settings related to research and academic learning.
- Experience with:
- Special Collections Materials.
- Develop and manage arts collections, including digital resources.
- Ability to develop and implement innovative library programs and services.
- Knowledge of art history, criticism and research methodologies.
- Training or degree in art history, museum studies, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of one or more languages ​​other than English relevant to art historical research (e.g. Italian, French, German, Japanese).
- Awareness of emerging trends in academic libraries and higher education.
Expected salary range
The salary range starts at $70,000+ and is aligned with the experience, education, and skills of the selected candidate.

working hours
- Monday – Friday 8:00am – 5:00pm with a 1 hour meal period.
